Great Basin National Park

100 Great Basin National Park
Baker, NV 89311
(775) 234-7331

Description:

Holding both high, icy mountain peaks and low desert valley land, Great Basin National Park offers spectacular sights and incredible outdoor adventures. The Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive runs right up into the mountains, though the path is only open during the summer months when ice and snow are not an issue. For those who wish to travel in the fresh air, hiking trails wind throughout the entire park with short options for just a quick jaunt as well as trails that take more than a day to finish. Over forty caves are accessible from the park and eight of these are open to visitors, with Lehman Caves being the most visited and offering two different-length tours for visitors to embark upon. Whether traveling below ground or towards the mountain peak, the rewards of Great Basin are many and although this east Nevada park sits close to the Utah border, it has few large nearby towns, making camping one of the best ways to enjoy all the park has to offer.
